Your Exceptional Edmond Dentist
John G. Polkinghorne, DDS
Dr. John has been working in dentistry for an impressive 33 years and counting, and he’s certainly honed the art of creating healthy, beautiful smiles for the people of Edmond, OK and surrounding neighborhoods in that time. He studied at one of the country’s finest dental school facilities at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and then worked as an associate of Dr. William (Bill) Lockard. Over the years, he studied with several more of the greatest dentists of our time, including the late Dr. Henry Tanner, Dr. Ronald Presswood, Dr. William (Bill) McHorris, the porcelain veneer pioneer Dr. Bob Nixon, and Dr. Newton Fahl. Today, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Oklahoma Dental Association. His favorite part of his job is working alongside such a great team!
“Cosmetics are of little value if they don’t provide proper function,” says Dr. John. “Education and prevention, as well as treatment, are the foundations of a beautiful outcome for our patients. Dentistry is a time-intensive activity. Quality should always be the constant and time the variable.”
Dr. John is from Ponca City, and he lives with his cat Bubby. His hobbies outside of the practice include skeet and pistol shooting, glass blowing, and bird hunting. He also serves as a volunteer reserve deputy for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, donates his time to several state educational boards, and advocates spreading awareness of feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) through support of Free To Live, the state’s largest no-kill dog and cat sanctuary.
